Life at the lake

Welcome to Lago di Lugano

Lake Lugano, also named Lake Ceresio, has a superficial of 2/3 in Switzerland and 1/3 in Italy. The total surface area is 48.9 square km,  35km long, 3km wide and up to 279m depth.

During summertime you can enjoy refreshing breezes, with incredible sunsets and beautiful panoramic views.

However it also offers a wide choice of water sports, including  windsurfing, rowing, swimming, waterskiing, stand-up paddling, sailing and much more.

For sailers there are many interesting places along the shores.  Right by the swiss border you will be able to visit the “Museo del Contrabbando” dedicated to the history of smuggling.

It is worth passing beyond the border to visit Gandria, Morcote and the splendid city of Lugano .

Porlezza and its surroundings

Besides the town centre the administrative district of Porlezza includes four villages in the surrounding area. (non ho capito cosa intendi qua)

Agria – Here you can find an interesting and curious fountain where many villagers in the past came to collect water.

Tavordo – The old laundry house in Piazza XXV Aprile and the little chapel of “Madonna di Caravaggio” are of special interest here.

Begna – Offers a breathtaking view of the town and the lake with incredibly long-lasting hours of sun.

Around the little church of San Giuseppe and Sant’Anna you’ll find a recently restored square.

Cima – Built along “Strada Regina” which connects Porlezza to Lugano. This is the furthest and most picturestique village. It is almost a town in its own, right full of sunny corners and evocative atmosphere.
